Here are a few takeaways from our learning event with memory expert Ron White.
- You’re not forgetting names 10 seconds later… you’re not focused. As you walk towards someone new repeat to yourself (in your mind silently) “What’s their name? What’s their name? What’s their name?” This little trick will help clear your mind of all other distractions. Once you get to them, you are more likely to remember their name.
- Drink more water to improve your focus. Drink way more than you think. Divide your body weight in half and drink that many ounces a day. There are other great brain foods, but water is at the top of the list.
- Create a file system for your memory banks. Read chapter nine in Ron’s book Mind Palace and learn how to create your own place based organization system. To do this you need to learn these 5 things: Focus, File, Picture, Action, and Review. Using this system at his last be event he was able to show us how you can memorize a talk without notes. With these tips you can improve your memory, improve your connections, and improve your business. And you’ll have a great talent to share at any open mic night!
